Santos has a 50 year track record of working with local landholders and contributing to communities as we've grown to become Australia's largest domestic gas producer.
Santos GLNG Project is a pioneering initiative to convert coal seam natural gas (CSG), or coal bed methane as it is sometimes referred to, to liquefied natural gas (LNG) for export to global markets. It represents a major investment in a cleaner energy source and fuel for the future.
Based in Queensland, Australia, the Project involves developing gas fields from the Bowen and Surat Basins in south-western Queensland, and will transport the gas via a 420 kilometre underground pipeline to an LNG plant on Curtis Island, off the coastline of Gladstone.
Every day we are working to be the CSG to LNG Business of Choice. It is this vision that drives our people, processes and performance.
This is reflected in our actions:
If it is not safe, we do not do it. It is a simple philosophy that means that if it is not safe for our people, the community or the environment, it does not happen.
We have been working with Queensland communities for over 50 years, and we respect our neighbours. We train all of our staff and contractors in the behaviours communities have come to expect and deserve.
Part of our commitment is the value we place on engaging with the community, and working together to ensure that we make a positive and respectful contribution.
